VLF – Metall Detectors

VLF detectors are used to locate objects buried close to the surface. They can reach a maximum detection depth of about one meter. Any claims beyond that are exaggerated marketing claims. The larger the object, the deeper the detection depth. VLF detectors send a signal with a „Very Low Frequency“ into the ground. The reflecting signals are detected and displayed. Good machines can distinguish between iron, silver, gold or copper objects as different metalls show a different conductivity on the display. However, if the burried object is rather large, it may be impossible to get information about the kind of metall.
