Pulse induction technology is based on the time-controlled decoupling of the transmit and receive signals from a coil through which current flows, thereby generating a pulsating magnetic field. The currents generated in metal objects located within this magnetic field produce a “response signal” that can be analyzed by modern metal detectors, allowing conclusions to be drawn about the type and size of the detected metal. Pulse induction metall detectors are not used for distinguishing between metals. VLF detectors are a much better choice for this purpose.
